Even though it was a long and sweaty process (schools don't typically leave on the air conditioning during the summer), I am looking forward to doing it again in my new digs. I feel like I'm becoming the master of decorating on little to no budget. Paper, colored scotch tape, dry erase markers, and anything that can be printed right in the classroom, and here's is some of what I came up with:
My Texas Classroom Y'all
Our class Literature Graffiti Wall included favorite quotes from books we were reading. It's simply black paper and silver sharpies. Students loved it and it looked awesome!
Our Word Wall was probably my favorite place in the classroom. Complete with pillows underneath for reading, this word wall was a real labor of love. Those are dictionary pages painstakingly stapled one by one to the wall (I left it for the next teacher to enjoy). Not only did we add academic words, but students were also welcome to add their own fancy words (and I added a few myself too). Ooh- and here's the link for the Free Gold Banner- You're welcome.
My Clip Boards were essential to our classroom organization. I kept handouts, important class documents, and flyers there for easy student access. Takes up wall space and looks good too!
